The LSAW (Longitudinally Submerged Arc Steel Pipes) are large steel pipe lines in leaflets plates as raw material and has the steel plate in the molding machine or mould so that it comes out as double sided arch which is submerged, welding and flaring from the production. These pipes are known for their ductility, strength and ability to transport materials in bulk. They are generally used in the large scale industries. The API 5L LSAW Pipe are pipes which have passed the specifications of API 5L that is American Petroleum Institute and are capable of being used in the large scale transportation of natural gas, oil and petroleum .

The API 5L LSAW Pipe is used mainly in supplying material in bulk and that too for longer distances. The reason that they are preferred over other pipe lines is that they are tough and have a better durability. They can stand corrosive and harsh environment for a long time. The API 5L LSAW Pipe can also withstand high pressure and the fluctuations in temperature.

These pipes generally have a large diameter and thick walls. Though the specifications and dimensions of the pipes can be changed by the manufacturer as per the demand, its standard size is as follows: its size ranges from 16' to 64" and wall thickness can be 6 mm to 65 mm. the length of these pipes can be 18 meters or less. The API 5L LSAW Pipe is best suited to transport petro chemical and similar industries where the pipes have to survive the environment without deteriorating.
